One of the most important projects that the Amadeu Antonio Stiftung supports is the program "EXIT-Deutschland", a service for those who wish to leave the neo-Nazi scene. EXIT was founded in the summer of 2000 by the former police officer Bernd Wagner and former Nazi leader Ingo Hasselbach. It offers opportunities for self-help to neo-Nazis who wish to leave the scene. The initiative helps them to find new perspectives other than right-wing extremism.
Also involved in leading the program are the parents of those who wish to leave as well as teachers and social workers. EXIT also organizes lectures and workshops in order to spread awareness about the truth about right-wing extremism, because much of the public is ill-informed about the neo-Nazi scene.
The work of EXIT is backed by the former members of right-wing extremist groups. So far EXIT has supported more than 250 people in sucessfully leaving the neo-Nazi scene, only seven of them have since returned to it.
