The main task of the Amadeu Antonio Foundation is the support of external projects. But in certain special cases, when neither the state nor the civil society can deliver solutions to relevant problems, the Foundation itself has to become active starting its own projects. Together with its partners and selected experts, the Foundation creates new approaches and methods which are then realised in practice. Hence, the Foundation organises seminars, develops teaching materials, sets up exhibitions, tests school projects and does a lot more. Throughout these activities the Foundation works in close co-operation with scientists.

The operative projects are not financed through donations, as the Amadeu Antonio Foundation closely collaborates in these projects with other foundations, partners from the private sector, municipalities, federal state governments and the federal government. In this manner a wide public can be sensibilised for these particular issues.

The Foundation encourages local projects and initiatives to strengthen democratic values. Besides financial assistance these projects are also offered practical consulting. The promotion of smaller initiatives is especially important, since they usually have less chance to be supported elsewhere.

The fight against anti-Semitism is a central task of the Amadeu Antonio Foundation. What can be done against anti-Semitism? How can anti-Senitism be prevented by the civil society?

The Amadeu Antonio Foundation looks for possibilities to successfully counter hostile prejudices.

How can the commitment for a democratic life be strengthened? How to get the most people from a region involved? The model of community foundations is a promising answer to these questions.

With its projects ‘Human Rights Education for a Democratic Culture’ and ‘Children’s Rights in the Municipality’ the Amadeu Antonio Foundation actively supports the implementation of human rights in the local communities.

Two goals of the special department dealing with ‘Gender and the Prevention of Right-wing Extremism’ are to carry on with the scientific discussion about gender aspects of right-wing extremism prevention and the implementation and testing of their ideas in practice.

Whether classical websites, blogs or social networks: neo-Nazis are also present on the internet. The projects Netz-gegen-Nazis.de (Net against the Nazis), no-nazi.net and Mut-gegen-rechte-Gewalt.de (Courage against Rightist Violence) inform about them.
