Weeks of Action against Antisemitism 2019

More than 3000 events, 500 initiatives, 200 locations — one goal: Stand up to Antisemitism in unity.
For the 17th time, the Weeks of Action against Antisemitism are taking place all across Germany.

As the biggest social coalition, the Weeks of Action campaign counters antisemitism in all forms and expressions and supports democratic civil society. To combat antisemitic resentment, we make use of innovative tools and a public campaign that irritates and provokes thinking.

With a network that covers all of Germany, the Weeks of Action against Antisemitism have installed interregional structures which enable different organisations to unite, encourage, and support one another in fighting Antisemitism locally and beyond. Creating space for Jewish perspectives and building bridges to the majority society, a close cooperation with the Jewish community represents the main focus of our work. We need to generate the urgently needed solidarity with victims of antisemitic violence in broad public.

This year’s Weeks of Action against Antisemitism focus on two main topics: antisemitism and antizionism in music cultures and antisemitism in the context of youth work and schools. Two of many aspects of modern hate against Jews.
Antisemitism is an attack on Jewish life, but it is always also an attack on democracy. It appears in many forms: as physically aggression, as verbal violence and threats on the streets, as hate speech on the internet, as conspiracy theories or alleged criticism on Israel on- and offline.

Join our efforts and the fight against antisemitism. Raise your voice. Like our actions. Donate for the work of courageous initiatives throughout Germany. Please, support the German civil society against antisemitism, for an inclusive, liberal society.

Holocaust Memory at Risk. The distortion of Holocaust History across Europe

Among the most prevalent forms of Holocaust denial and distortion in Germany today are the trivialization of the Holocaust, “Holocaust fatigue,” and the issue of “double-genocide,” the equation of Nazi and Communist crimes. Other noticeable aspects of distortion consist of inaccurate comparisons between Israel and Nazi Germany or Zionism with Nazism. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s report, to which the Amadeu Antonio Foundation contributed, looks at these and other forms across Europe.
