One of the most perceptible changes triggered by the growing influence of right-wing populists in parliaments and the media is impacting civil society. Initiatives are being put under pressure, defamed and threatened.

Right-Wing Terror in New Zealand – The background

On 15 March 2019, right-wing extremist terrorists killed 50 people and seriously injured another 48 in New Zealand. Two mosques were attacked, the Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch and a mosque in the suburb of Linwood.

Now that the German Law on Improving Law Enforcement in Social Networks (NetzDG) has come into force, the Amadeu Antonio Foundation has reiterated its criticism of the legislation. In its present form, the act is not achieving what it purports to do.
